Travel Channel

Role: Design.

For the Travel Channel's annual "Ghostober" event, I designed an atmospheric promotional campaign that builds psychological tension through strategic environmental storytelling.

The narrative deliberately guides viewers on an unsettling journey—beginning in the shadowy woods outside an isolated house, moving through an ominous corridor, and finally arriving at a mysterious door. This visual progression mirrors classic horror storytelling techniques, creating mounting suspense with each transition.

What makes this campaign distinctive is its deliberate absence of human figures until the final reveal. The environments remain unnervingly still, with only the camera's movement suggesting a presence. This technique forces viewers to project their own fears into these empty spaces—what lurks in those woods? Where does that corridor lead? What waits behind that door?

The psychological tension peaks with subtle, unsettling elements: curtains moving with no apparent cause, suggesting either a natural breeze or something more sinister. The campaign culminates in a startling finale—a shadowy human figure appearing suddenly, delivering the promised "jump scare" that horror audiences crave while reinforcing the Travel Channel's paranormal programming focus.

Throughout the campaign, the rich amber palette creates a consistent mood that balances Halloween tradition with sophisticated visual design, elevating the seasonal programming while creating a distinctive atmospheric identity for the "Ghostober" event.
